Protect Your Business Data and Recover Faster When It Matters

Cloud backup and disaster recovery eliminates the capital expense of secondary DR infrastructure — using cloud economics to provide enterprise-grade data protection that scales with your environment and meets the RTO/RPO requirements of every workload tier.

Overview

What RLM Delivers

Every minute of downtime and every MB of data lost has a business cost. RLM designs backup and DR architectures that meet your recovery objectives at the lowest possible cost — and helps you select and implement the solutions that deliver on their promises.

Advisory Approach

How We Work

A structured advisory process — from discovery and market evaluation to negotiation and post-deployment optimization — tailored to your specific environment and objectives.

1

RTO/RPO Requirements & Workload Tiering

We work with your business stakeholders to define RTO and RPO requirements by workload tier — mission-critical, business-important, and standard — creating the recovery objective framework that drives all backup and DR design decisions.

2

Backup Architecture Design

We design the backup architecture — agent-based vs. agentless, incremental vs. full, cloud-native backup services vs. third-party platforms — that meets your recovery objectives and retention requirements at optimal cost.

3

DR Platform Evaluation

We evaluate DR platforms — Zerto, Veeam, AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery, Azure Site Recovery, Commvault — against your workload types, RTO requirements, and target cloud environment.

4

DR Testing & Validation Design

DR that has never been tested is not DR — it's a hypothesis. We design the DR test program — scheduled failover tests, chaos engineering, and recovery documentation — that validates your DR capability before you need it.

Evaluation Criteria

What to Look For

These are the dimensions that consistently separate successful deployments from costly ones — and the questions RLM will help you answer before any commitment.

01

RTO vs. Cost Trade-off

Active-active DR provides near-zero RTO but at near-double infrastructure cost. Pilot light, warm standby, and cold standby reduce cost at the expense of recovery time. Match the DR tier to the business impact of each workload.

02

RPO Granularity

Backup windows that run hourly vs. daily vs. weekly determine your maximum data loss exposure. Evaluate continuous data protection (CDP) for workloads with tight RPO requirements.

03

Recovery Testing Frequency

DR platforms that haven't been tested recently may fail when needed. Evaluate the test automation capabilities and the operational burden of maintaining a regular test cadence.

04

Cross-Region & Cross-Cloud DR

Single-cloud DR doesn't protect against cloud provider regional outages or provider-level incidents. Evaluate cross-region and cross-cloud DR requirements for your most critical workloads.

05

Ransomware Recovery

Ransomware attacks target backup infrastructure. Evaluate immutable backup capabilities, offline copy retention, and recovery time from immutable backups — not just standard recovery scenarios.

06

Application-Consistent Recovery

Crash-consistent backups don't guarantee application consistency for databases and clustered applications. Evaluate application-consistent snapshot support for every tier of your application stack.

"RLM helped us rationalize our multi-cloud spend and identify over $1.2M in annual savings. Their approach was methodical and unbiased — exactly what we needed."
